Thisstoryisbasedwheretheskateboardcultureisthemostforeign,theMidwest.DerrickCabrera,likeallskaters,hasadreamofbeingsonsoredandonedaygoingro.Heisanuandcomingskaterwithallthetalentbuthastheworldagainsthim.Parents,friendsandschoolmatescan’tunderstandhowDerrickhassomuchassionforsomethingthathasnofutureintheireyes.Hiscrewoffriendsthatareskatersistheonlylaceheistrulyacceted.But,ashegetsbetterandbetter,theskaterhelookedutothemostbecomeshisworstenemy.Inthesortofskateboardingasingletrickthathasneverbeendoneorconceivedcanbringyoustardominaninstant.Derrickhasthattrick,ifonlyhecanmakeit.Asheattemtstomakethistrickheisfacedwithskateroofing,ajealousfriendandcoswhohaveitinforhim.Derrickfinallygetsarrestedforskatingonrivateroerty.Afterthathisarentslaydownthelawandtrytoforcehimtoquitskateboarding.Addinginsulttoinjury,hisgirlfriendforcesanultimatumonhimaswell:quot;Theskateboardorlifewithher.quot;Atthatoint,DerrickgivesueverythingandrunsawaywithhisfriendstotheTamaAmcontestinFlorida.Thisisaweekendthatcanturnanunknownskateboarderintoafuturestar.Heseesitashisonlyshottomakeitinskateboarding.Derrick’srivalrycomestoaheadinFloridawhenhiscrewoffriendsabandonshimbecauseofhisjealousmentor.Atoamateur’ssisterrescuesDerrickbygivinghimalacetostayandconvincinghimtobelieveinhimself.Withalltheworldofskateboardingwatching,Derrickfinallymakesthetrickthatshockstheentireskateworldandinstantlythrustshimintothesotlight.Hisdreamofbeingsonsoredhascometrue.
