When they arrive at the hotel, the Latvian ambassador who is also staying there is killed. Monk saw the killer but only his ear. So he tries to hel the NYPD solve the case hoing they will hel them find the man. When Monk goes downtown, he gets lost and gets swet u in all the chaos.
